Mher is a much valued Armenian translator for Absolute Translations
Armenian, a language official to the Republic of Armenia, as well as Nagorno-Karabakh (a de facto republic but de-jure part of Azerbaijan). Armenian has its own script, the Armenian alphabet, and Greek has been argued to be the most closely related surviving language to Armenian. Mher grew up in St Albans and has always played an important role in the substantial Armenian community there. She completed Armenian language exams throughout her schooling and is backed with a languages degree and Master's degree in Translation. Mher now translates on a freelance basis in order to avoid a daily commute into London. Mher says, “Being able to enjoy my home whilst working, is the best part of my job and more people should try it!”.
Today, more than five million people claim Armenian as their native tongue.
More than three million of these native speakers reside in Armenia, one million in the republics of the former Soviet Union, and the remainder is spread throughout the Middle East, the Balkans and the United States. The language is an ancient one, full of rich vocabulary and meaning. The alphabet used in the Armenian language is made up of 38 letters. While modern grammar in this language is more simplified now than in ancient times, there are still six cases for the noun and nine tenses for the verb.
