WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENT SPANISH LANGUAGES AND DIALECTS?

Spanish is the second most spoken language in the world, so it comes as no surprise that there are a number of different Spanish dialects and languages which need to be taken into account when you are looking to translate your documents.

The primary language of the Iberian peninsula, spoken by about 50% of the population, is Castilian Spanish and the second-most spoken Spanish dialect in Spain is Andalusian (used in Andalusia in southern Spain). For the most part, the Spanish-speaking region of Spain is home to five different languages: Aranese, Basque, Catalan, Galician and Spanish.

Outside of Spain, the Rioplatense Spanish dialect is spoken in parts of Uruguay and Argentina, Caribbean Spanish is used in countries such as Cuba, Puerto Rico, and the Dominican Republic, and Andean is the Spanish dialect used in Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, and parts of Venezuela.

In Mexico, which is actually the largest Spanish speaking country in the world, the Mexican and Central American Spanish dialect is most commonly used.

WHICH TYPE OF SPANISH SHOULD I CHOOSE?

As the official language of 21 countries, making sure you select the right Spanish to translate your documents into isn’t easy. Which Spanish you choose for translating purposes will very much depend on the native language of your target audience and which international markets you are focussing in on.

The services you offer, the business sector you are in, and whether your document translation is needed for official use such as immigration, will also play a part in deciding which of the Spanish languages you need to proceed with for your translation project.

WHAT IS THE BEST TRANSLATOR FOR SPANISH?

Whilst one of the most utilised translation tools in both English to Spanish, and Spanish to English translations is Google Translate, for the most accurate translations the only real option is for your business to use a professional translation agency that can provide an accurate, high quality service.

At Absolute Translations we have a core staff of native Spanish speakers and close ties to the translation community in the Spanish speaking markets we represent. Through our professional translation services, we offer a level of understanding, knowledge and experience that is second to none. Careful attention is given to every word and every nuance in order to get the end result of your Spanish translation 100% correct.

WHAT’S THE BENEFIT OF USING NATIVE SPANISH TRANSLATORS?

By working with expert Spanish translation services, you know you’re working with trained linguists and professional translators who know exactly what is required to translate your documents accurately whether it be in Castillian Spanish, Caribbean Spanish or one of the dialects used in Latin America.

A professionally trained translator, who is a native speaker, can help you avoid common translation mistakes that Google Translate makes especially when it comes to technical documents. They will also offer you a more personal service throughout the entire process.

WHY IS TRANSLATING THE SPANISH LANGUAGE IMPORTANT FOR BUSINESS?

Globalisation has brought about a global marketplace, in which businesses can attract more customers. This requires companies to translate both their commercial and legal documents into different languages.

With so many Spanish-speakers in the world, Spanish has great influence on international business which is why translating your documents into Spanish is a must for companies looking to enter new markets.

Spanish is the official language in twenty countries, making it one of the most spoken languages in the world and in today’s business world, the ability to communicate in the language of your foreign audience is becoming more and more necessary – particularly in the fields of telecommunications and banking.

Having your documents translated into Spanish by a translator who is not only a native speaker, but also expert in your field, supports your business in its efforts to globalise.

WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN CERTIFIED AND NOTARIZED SPANISH TRANSLATIONS?

A professional translator who is educated in translation studies is able to officially certify the accuracy of the Spanish translation they provide.

Whilst certification of your Spanish translations by a notary public offers verification of the translator’s certification through an official notarisation stamp.

Translation services that provide certification and notarisation of your document translation is usually needed for translations of immigration paperwork, business contracts, legal documents and court records. Our Certified translation services are accepted by all embassies and consulates, the UK Passport Office, the Legalisation Home Office and NARIC.

WHAT IS AN APOSTILLE SPANISH TRANSLATION?

Different countries have different rules however, however if your target country is a member of the Hague Convention, you will need a Hague Apostille to recognise the translated document as being authentic. That’s because, as the treaty that regulates the legalization of documents for use in foreign countries, an Apostille translation carries an internationally recognized certification that verifies the authenticity of your translated document.
