There are three main families of European languages. The largest is the Indo-European group, followed by the Finno-Ugric family, and then Basque.

WHAT IS THE WORKING LINGO OF THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT?
EU institutions use English, French and German as their official EU working languages to write EU laws and hold meetings but they translate into a variety of global and local dialects including the 24 official EU languages.
