Every Specialist and Premium French translation goes through two stages: translation by a native linguist, then an independent review of the finished translation against the source text by a second linguist, before it reaches you. This is what ISO 17100, the international standard for translation services, requires, and we were the first UK translation company to achieve that accreditation. French translation is priced per 1,000 words, not per page, in three tiers depending on how the document will be used: AI-Assisted from £80, Specialist from £110 and Premium from £150 per 1,000 words, all plus VAT, with a £25 minimum charge per language. French also runs longer than the English source, typically by around 15 to 20%, so we account for that expansion when we quote and when we typeset, so the finished French still fits your design. Turnaround follows a specialist's real pace of about 3,000 to 3,500 words a day, plus roughly 30% more time where the independent review stage applies.

French is not a single market. If your document is for Belgium, Canada or Switzerland, the French differs in vocabulary, tone and sometimes regulated terminology, so we route those projects to our Belgian French, Canadian French and Swiss French pages and assign a linguist who writes for that market. Tell us the country your French is for and we confirm the right variety before we start.

Some French documents must be officially accepted in France, by a court, a notaire, a French subsidiary or a public authority. These usually need a sworn translation by a traducteur assermenté, and sometimes an apostille (France is a Hague Apostille member). That is a separate, certified service; see our certified French translation page and tell us the receiving body when you request a quote.

French client documents are handled within our ISO 27001-certified information security systems, the international standard for information security management, and under GDPR-compliant processes, with confidentiality agreements in place for every linguist working on your project.
