Certified divorce document translation

A certified divorce document translation is an official translation of a decree absolute, final order or equivalent divorce document, accompanied by a signed statement confirming it is a true and accurate rendering of the original. At Absolute Translations we translate and certify divorce documents for remarriage, spouse and settlement visas, a change of name and proof of marital status, for register offices, the Home Office and UKVI, courts and foreign authorities. Prices start from £29 for a standard document or first page, including the translation, the certification and VAT, and because the document is usually short, many can be certified the same day.

Divorce Document Certified translation services Certificate with signed statement and official company stamp.

What’s included in your certified translation

Every certified divorce document translation includes the translation itself and a signed, dated statement confirming it is a true and accurate translation, carrying our name and contact details, together with our official company stamp on our letterhead. That signed statement, not the stamp alone, is what UK authorities look for. We are an established UK translation company, the first in the UK to achieve ISO 17100, with over twenty years of experience translating official and legal documents. You receive a copy by email, and we can also send a posted certified copy where the receiving authority does not accept a digital certification. Every document is handled securely and in line with GDPR.

Money-back guarantee on Certified Divorce document translation services accepted by UK authorities and international organisations.

Accepted for remarriage, visas and abroad, guaranteed

Our certified divorce document translations are produced to be accepted by UK authorities and by many overseas bodies. People rely on us when a foreign divorce must be recognised so they can remarry in the UK, when a decree absolute is needed for a spouse or settlement visa, and when a divorce must be registered or recognised abroad. Tell us which body will receive the translation and we recommend and set the right level of certification, including an apostille where the document is used abroad, backed by our money-back guarantee.

The right document, and both parties’ names

Only a final divorce order, a decree absolute rather than a decree nisi, actually ends a marriage, so we make sure the document you need translated is the one that proves the divorce is complete, and we reproduce both parties’ names, the case or reference number and the effective date exactly. Where a party has since reverted to a maiden name or changed name, we can add a short translator’s note linking the names, so a register office or visa caseworker reads a consistent history.

Divorce recognised abroad

If a divorce needs to be recognised or registered in another country, or you are remarrying abroad, the receiving authority often asks for the certified translation to be legalised as well as certified. Where the document is going to a Hague Convention country we can arrange an apostille, from £85, and for other countries consular legalisation. Tell us the destination country and we confirm which level of legalisation it requires before we begin.

What a certified divorce document translation costs

Certified divorce document translation starts from £29 for a standard document or first page, including the translation, the certification and VAT; additional pages, where needed, are from £26 for most languages. Because the document is usually short, most orders sit at the base price. If notarisation is required, our in-house notary usually completes this the same day; an apostille, from £85, legalises the document for use in another Hague Convention country. Your exact price depends on the language pair, the number of pages and the level of certification. Upload your divorce document for a fixed quote, or see our certified translation prices for a full breakdown.

How fast can you get it?

Most certified divorce document translations are ready within one to two working days, and because the document is usually short, same-day certification is available on request. We offer both a standard and an express service. When you upload your document, tell us your deadline and we will confirm a delivery date before you order.

Usually the decree absolute or final order, because that is the document that proves a marriage has legally ended, rather than the decree nisi, which is an earlier stage.
