Certified French translation with signed statement and official company stamp

What's included in your certified french certificate translation

Every certified French translation includes the translation itself, a signed and dated statement on our letterhead confirming it is a true and accurate translation and giving our name and contact details, and our official company stamp. That signed statement, not the stamp alone, is what UK authorities look for in a certified translation. We are an established UK translation company, the first in the UK to achieve ISO 17100, with over twenty years of experience translating French civil, academic and legal documents. You receive a copy by email, and we can also send a posted certified copy where the receiving authority does not accept a digital certification. Every document is handled securely and in line with GDPR.

Money-back guarantee on professionally translated birth certificates accepted by UK authorities.

Accepted by UK authorities, guaranteed

Our certified French translations are produced to be accepted by UK authorities and by many overseas bodies. Clients rely on us for French documents going to the Home Office and UKVI for immigration and visa applications, HM Courts, UK universities and UK ENIC for recognising French qualifications, the DVLA and the Passport Office. Tell us which body will receive the translation and we recommend and set the right level of certification. We then back that recommendation with a money-back guarantee: if you take the option we recommend and the receiving authority does not accept it, or later changes what it requires, we will either put it right at no cost or refund you in full, provided we have the authority's decision in writing.

French civil documents, translated exactly

French civil-status documents have their own structure, and reproducing it correctly is what makes the translation accepted. A French birth certificate is issued as an acte de naissance, usually as a recent copie intégrale, the full copy showing parentage, or a shorter extrait, and it carries mentions marginales, the marginal notes that record a later marriage, divorce or death. We translate the whole document exactly, including those marginal notes, the livret de famille where you have one, and every official stamp and signature, and we flag anything illegible rather than guess at it. Tell us which authority will receive it and we will confirm you have the right version, the full copy or the extract, before we translate.

Using UK documents in France

If you need a UK document accepted in France, as a civil-law country, often asks for a sworn translation, known as a traduction assermentée and produced by a translator sworn before a French Court of Appeal. Separately, the UK original may need an apostille, which authenticates the UK signature or seal on the document, since both the UK and France belong to the Hague Apostille Convention. An apostille does not replace the translation, and some authorities ask for both. The right combination depends on the receiving authority, so tell us the French body and what it has asked for, and we will confirm exactly what is required and arrange the apostille, from £85, where it is needed.

What a certified French translation costs

Certified French translation starts from £29 for a standard document or first page, including the translation, the certification and VAT, and £26 for each additional page. Because certificates are short, we price per document or per page rather than per word. If notarisation is required, our in-house notary usually completes this the same day; an apostille, from £85, legalises the document for use in France or another Hague Convention country. Your exact price depends on the number of pages and the level of certification. Upload your French document for a fixed quote, or see our certified translation prices for a full breakdown.

How fast can you get it?

Most certified French translations are ready within one to two working days, with same-day certification available on request for short documents such as a birth or marriage certificate. We offer both a standard and an express service; the turnaround reflects the length of the document, whether it also needs notarisation or an apostille, and how quickly you need it. When you upload your document, tell us your deadline and we will confirm a delivery date before you order.

Certified French translation at Absolute Translations starts from £29 for a standard document or first page, including the translation, the certification and VAT, and £26 for each additional page. Most certified French translations are ready within one to two working days, and a short document such as a French birth or marriage certificate can often be certified the same day on request. Turnaround depends on the length of the document, the certification level, and whether an apostille or notarisation is also needed, which adds a step. Tell us your deadline when you upload the document and we will confirm a delivery date before you order, so an immigration or university cut-off is never left to chance.

Yes. Our certified French translations are produced to be accepted by UK authorities including the Home Office and UKVI, HM Courts, UK universities and UK ENIC for recognising French qualifications, the DVLA and the Passport Office. Each carries our signed certification statement and official company stamp. We back it with a money-back guarantee: take the certification level we recommend and, if the receiving authority does not accept it in writing, we will put it right at no cost or refund you in full. Tell us the receiving body and we set the certification to the level it expects.

Yes, this is one of the French documents we translate most. We produce a certified English translation of your acte de naissance, reproducing every name, date and place exactly, along with the mentions marginales, the marginal notes recording any later marriage, divorce or death. French birth certificates come as a full copie intégrale showing parentage or a shorter extrait, and some UK applications need the full version, so tell us which you have and which authority it is for and we will confirm it is the right one before we translate and certify it.

It depends on the French authority. France often asks for a sworn translation, a traduction assermentée produced by a translator sworn before a French Court of Appeal, and, because France is a member of the Hague Apostille Convention, the underlying document may also need an apostille. The two are not the same, and some authorities want both. Tell us the French body the document is going to and exactly what it has requested, and we will confirm the correct route and arrange the apostille, from £85, where it is required.
