As a global centre for finance and business, Switzerland’s economic and political importance far outstrips the country’s size. To communicate effectively in written forms of Swiss French, Swiss German, and Swiss Italian, you must understand the technical and cultural differences between those languages and their counterparts in France, Germany, and Italy. Our client list includes public- and private-sector organisations, government bodies and departments, and media channels. GlaxoSmithKline, Coutts, Liberty London, Endemol UK, EDF Energy and Oxfam, trust us to translate written content including but not limited to legal documents and contracts, technical documentation and manuals, websites and apps, inter- and intra-company communications, inter- and intra-departmental communications, and multimedia marketing materials. We translate all Swiss languages to and from more than 200 languages, and our mother-tongue translators work in your time zone to facilitate easy communication and quick project delivery.

Swiss German is the official language of Zurich—while Swiss French is the official language of the Republic and Canton of Geneva. Fribourg, Valais, and Bern share joint official languages of Swiss French and Swiss German. Graubünden has three official languages: Swiss German, Swiss Italian, and Romansh. Romansh is a descendant of the spoken Latin used in the Roman Empire, and in its surviving form has five distinct dialects, each of which have individual standard written languages. Similarly, Swiss French, Swiss German, and Swiss Italian all have dialects or calques that are transcribed in their written versions: the Swiss Italian for ‘driving licence’, for example, is licenza di condurre, with the word condurre borrowed from the French. While Swiss French shares lexical elements with Quebec French and Belgian French, which are distinct from the standard French vocabulary. Here the counting system is different from standard French, and different words are used for mealtimes—the Swiss French for ‘breakfast’, for instance, is dejeuner, which in standard French means ‘lunch’. From scientific publications to governmental communications, our expertise and attention to detail ensure your Swiss translation delivers its message in the perfect tone for your audience.
Our Swiss translators are more than just mother-tongue speakers of Switzerland’s four official languages—they’re also subject experts with a proven track record of five years’ minimum experience in their field. Whether you’re translating investment reports, detailed financial analyses, or technical documentation, we match your project with a translator who can navigate the special terminology of your industry or sector. Our subject expertise ensures your projects are completed quickly and accurately, avoiding costly errors and potentially offensive slips in meaning. We also use sophisticated translation memory software to bring down the cost of your Swiss translation. The software creates a personal lexicon of industry terms, frequently-used phrases, and blocks of text, and uses it to automatically translate repeated content. Meaning you never have to pay more than once for new translations.
